READ THE BEGINNING... When God
called me to consider the operational management of this mission, Mom was
already in the process of contacting Christian groups to give the mission over
to.
My wife Susan and I were living in Chicago attending Marquette Manor Baptist Church. After a Sunday school revival meeting held by Leon Kilbreth, God spoke to my
heart, letting me know we would serve Him full time. God confirmed this calling
with my wife some days later and we both were willing to follow Him. At
the time I had a good salaried job as associate director of food service at
Northwestern Memorial Hospital on Lakeshore Drive in downtown Chicago and owned
a home in West Chicago. However, God has so abundantly blessed us not only
physically, but in growing in the knowledge and grace of our Lord, that we have
neither missed nor regretted our decision at anytime.
God has allowed us to add on 10 secondary roofs and porch deck coverings to the
mobile homes. We've built a 20' x 40' outdoor picnic arbor, remolded 10 of the
homes on the interior, added eight new 12' x 20' garages and added a new home,
Peter.
Beginning November 1997 and ending in May of 1998, God accomplished construction
of a 100' x 40' indoor recreation, dinning and fellowship meeting hall, with our
new office in the front 20 ft. of the building.
The goal of the mission future follows:
1. To upgrade all of our existing Mobile units to wood
frame, two and three bedroom homes. This project began in September of 1999 at
a cost of approximately $55,000 per duplex unit. Our goal is to replace the
twelve Mobile homes with at least five frame built duplexes, half being three bedroom
and the other two bedroom. We have already accomplished the construction of three
duplexes, "Manor House", "Grace Dwelling Place" and "Faiths Abode".
"Schaumburg Chalet" is currently in the process of being built. Only one
Mobile unit remains on site which is mainly used to house work teams.
2. Then expansion of the remaining fifty-five acres of
property may be started as we look to install a five-acre lake and picnic area,
with retirement housing for pastors and missionaries on a twenty-five acre
parcel adjoining the lake. All this is planned as we wait on the Master to give
direction through His Word and the advice and counsel of the Board of Directors.
